The Pioneer Translation Rendering

Hebrews 2:10

For it was fitting for him — for whom all things exist and through whom all things exist — in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

The word *archēgon* is rendered **Pioneer**, the Pioneer Translation's standing name for this title. The verb *teleiōsai* means "to make complete" or "to make perfect" — this is translated at face value as "make perfect through sufferings," preserving the striking and theologically honest force of the text, which indicates a real process of completion undergone by the Son, not a merely apparent one. The phrase "for whom all things exist and through whom all things exist" refers to the Father, keeping the distinction between Father and Son clear.

10

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.

For it was appropriate that he who is the great First Cause of the universe should, in guiding his many children to his glorious salvation, make their leader in it fully qualified through what he suffered.
