Berean Standard Bible
6So the LORD sent venomous snakes among the people, and many of the Israelites were bitten and died.
The Bronze Snake on the Pole
Jehovah sent the fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, and many people of Israel died.
The Hebrew *הַנְּחָשִׁים הַשְּׂרָפִים* (ha-neḥashim ha-seraphim) literally means "the serpents, the fiery ones" — *seraphim* here carries the sense of burning or fiery, likely describing the burning sensation of the bite, rendered plainly as "fiery serpents." The verb *וַיְשַׁלַּח* (vayeshallaḥ) means Jehovah actively sent or released them, preserving the directness of divine agency without softening.
Berean Standard Bible

King James Version
6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
