Berean Standard Bible
19So Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself, unless He sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
So Jesus answered and said to them: "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son is able to do nothing from himself, unless he sees the Father doing it. For whatever that one does, these things the Son does likewise."
The phrase "ἀφʼ ἑαυτοῦ" (aph' heautou) — "from himself" — is translated literally and without softening, preserving the Son's complete dependence on the Father as the originating source of all action. "ἐκεῖνος" (ekeinos) meaning "that one" is rendered as such, marking the Father as a distinct person being pointed to. The double "ἀμὴν ἀμὴν" is rendered "Truly, truly" to preserve the emphatic force of Jesus's solemn declaration.

19So Jesus answered them, “I tell you, the Son cannot do anything of his own accord, unless he sees the Father doing it. For whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
